Can you STAND AND DELIVER!?

How is a Project managed successfully in a in a CULTURALLY

DIVERSE ENVIRONMENT?

  • It must be SIMPLE TO IMPLEMENT
  • It must be QUICK TO IMPLEMENT
  • It must have minimal PAPERWORK and ADMINISTRATION
  • Progress and milestones must be MEASURABLE
  • It must have a CONSTANT IMPROVEMENT MECHANISM
...it is said that there will be two types of companies in the future - “THE QUICK AND THE DEAD!”

In this new millennium the pace of change will confound us with its acceleration. When it comes to projects; should your project take longer than..
three months from inception to completion, you may discover that it is too late. Your competitors would already have passed you by. This is the extreme pace at which you could expect projects to be developed.

A project that is unsuccessful (either late, over budget, not implemented or does not serve the client needs) will result in dramatic increases in costs, sometimes great fortunes will be wasted. Consider the considerable cost of failed projects.... in South Africa it is estimated that fewer than 4% of projects initiated by the public service are successful. Hence the growing reputation of “talk shops” and “lack of delivery”.

Large amounts of monies are constantly being pumped into these failed projects, eventually resulting in deteriorating services at inflated costs. No economy or business could indefinitely sustain on-going project failure…period.

That is why projects, and the completion of projects that are; in time and within budget is what will increasingly set the business standard for competitiveness. Of course, along with this goes the ability to innovate, create and design products and services that truly serve customer needs. If a competitor is able to innovate before you, your ability to improve whilst copying will set you apart and maintain your competitiveness.

So, in order to win – to prosper – to grow, in today’s business world you need to: Create and innovate – at pace, or die! Design and build –at pace, or die! Complete and implement successful projects – at pace, or die! In a nutshell, DELIVER (quickly) OR DIE!
